Qu’est-ce que hairforge?
The problem hairforge solves
Choosing a beard is mostly guesswork. You can save photos of other people's beards, but a style that looks sharp on someone with a long, narrow face and dense growth can look very different on a round face with patchy cheeks. Growing it out just to find out costs weeks, and shaving it off again is a disappointing way to end the experiment. hairforge, at beardstyles.co, is built to take some of that guesswork out before you put the trimmer away. It combines a browsable library of beard styles, an optional free analysis of face shape and beard density, and paid AI previews that show selected styles on your own photo.
How it works
The workflow moves from general browsing to personal results, and you choose how far to go.
1. Browse beard styles for free
Start by exploring the style library, which ranges from light stubble to a full beard. Browsing needs no payment, so it is a low-pressure way to learn the names of different looks, compare lengths and shapes, and make a shortlist before spending anything.
2. Optional face analysis, also free
Next, you can ask hairforge to analyze your face shape and beard density. The analysis is optional and free. It adds two of the factors that matter most when judging whether a beard will suit you: the outline of your face and how fully your beard grows. Using them narrows a long list of styles to the ones that make sense for you.
3. Paid AI beard previews on your photo
When you want to see a style on yourself, upload a photo and generate an AI preview. Previews come as a single front view or as a 3-view set that adds 45-degree side angles, which shows how a style reads from the side as well as the front. A 3-view set can start from one front photo, in which case the side angles are AI-inferred and may differ from your real profile, or you can upload front, left 45-degree and right 45-degree photos yourself. This is the paid part of the product. Each preview uses Credits, and the cost depends on the quality level you pick.
Preview quality levels and credit costs
hairforge offers three output levels. Each has one price for a single front view and another for a 3-view set:
- Fast (1K): 2 credits single, 5 credits for 3-view
- HD (2K): 4 credits single, 10 credits for 3-view
- Pro (4K): 8 credits single, 20 credits for 3-view
That structure makes it easy to experiment cheaply and then spend more only on finalists. A sensible approach is to try several shortlisted styles at Fast, then render the favorite one or two in HD or Pro, as a 3-view set if you want to see the profile.
Credit packs
Credits come in one-time packs:
- Quick Try: 20 credits for $4.99
- Style Pack: 60 credits for $9.99
- Pro Pack: 160 credits for $19.99
If a generation fails, its credits are refunded, so a failed render does not cost you. Browsing styles and running the face analysis stay free. The personal AI try-on is the only thing that uses credits. For a directory listing, hairforge is best described as Freemium. It is not a fully free AI beard generator, because previews on your own photo are paid.
Who it is for
- Men planning their first beard who want to see realistic options before committing weeks of growth.
- Anyone changing an existing style, for example moving from stubble to a short boxed beard or from a full beard to something more defined, who wants a preview before the trim.
- People with uneven or patchy growth who want to factor beard density into the choice, rather than picking from photos of people whose growth differs from theirs.
- Barbers and their clients who want a shared visual reference to discuss before a cut, starting with the free style library.
- Anyone preparing for an event, a new job or a photo, who wants a clearer sense of how a change will look first.
Getting a useful preview
The quality of any AI try-on depends on the photo you give it. These general tips help:
- Use a clear, well-lit photo where your face is fully visible, without hats, sunglasses or hands covering the jawline.
- Face the camera directly for the front view. If you add side photos for a 3-view set, take them at roughly 45 degrees in similar lighting.
- Keep your expression neutral so the jawline and chin are easy to read.
- Run the free face analysis first, and use it to decide which styles deserve a paid preview.
- Treat a preview as a visual guide, not a guarantee. Real results depend on how your beard actually grows, how long you let it grow and how it is trimmed.
How hairforge fits into the decision
hairforge works best as the step between "I might grow a beard" and "I am growing this beard." The free library helps you name what you like. The free analysis tells you what is likely to suit your face shape and density. The paid preview puts your shortlist on your own face, from the front and, optionally, from the sides, so you can compare a few options side by side. Since previews are priced per render and come from one-time packs, you can stop at whatever level of certainty you need. Some people will stop after browsing. Others will spend a Quick Try pack on a handful of Fast previews. A few will want Pro 4K 3-view renders of a final candidate to show their barber.
Quick answers
Is hairforge free? Partly. Browsing the style library and running the face shape and density analysis are free. AI previews on your own photo use paid Credits, so the product is Freemium.
What photos do I need? A clear front-facing photo is enough to start. For the most realistic 3-view set, also add photos taken at about 45 degrees on each side, because inferred side angles may not match your real profile.
What happens if a preview fails? Failed generations are refunded, so the credits come back.
